Terms of service

Blackhat is operated by Hudson Hildebrand, a sole trader based in Queensland, Australia. You can reach us at hello@blackhat.ink.

Blackhat is a searchable database of publicly visible Instagram Reels. Each entry carries the video’s public metrics, its caption, a transcript, a verbatim hook and an outlier score calculated against that creator’s own median performance. You can search it in the app, and on the Agency plan through a REST API and an MCP server.

We index and link. We do not host, mirror or re-encode anyone’s video file, and every result links back to the original post.

You need an account to use anything beyond the public demo. Keep your credentials and your API keys to yourself: keys are issued per customer, and anything done with your key is treated as done by you. Tell us promptly if a key leaks and we will revoke it.

You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and the details you give us must be accurate.

Free costs nothing and needs no card. Operator is $49 per month and Agency is $99 per month. All prices are in USD.

Tax: the operator is not registered for Australian GST, so no GST is charged or included in these prices.

Paid plans are monthly and renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time from your billing settings; your plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for and then drops to Free. We do not pro-rate refunds for a partial month, and we will not charge you again after you cancel.

All payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never touch Blackhat’s servers.

Plan limits are published on the pricing page and are what we enforce. We may change them with reasonable notice; if a change makes your plan materially worse you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of the period.

Please don’t:

• resell the database, or bulk re-export it to build a competing index;
• scrape Blackhat itself;
• work around rate limits, plan caps or the metering;
• share an API key outside your own organisation;
• use the service to harass anyone, or for anything unlawful.

We may suspend an account that does any of these, and we will tell you why.

We do not own the videos and we claim no rights in creator content. Copyright in a video stays with whoever made it. What we index is metadata: public metrics, captions, transcripts and thumbnails re-hosted for reference. Video files are never re-hosted, and every result links out to the source.

The software, the outlier scoring, the rankings and the site design are ours. Anything you save in a collection stays yours.

If you are a creator and you want your videos out of the index, email takedown@blackhat.ink from an address we can tie to the account, or send us the post links. We will acknowledge within 5 business days and remove the entries — rows and re-hosted thumbnails — within 30 days, and we will tell you when it is done. You do not need a lawyer to ask.

Yes. We index publicly available videos and their public metrics. We store metadata and transcripts rather than re-hosting anyone’s video, we link every result back to the original, and we honour takedown requests.

The service is provided as-is. We do not promise the library is complete, that a particular video or creator is in it, or that an outlier score predicts anything about your own content. Coverage varies by niche and changes as the library grows.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits or revenue. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to what you paid us in the three months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be limited.

You can close your account at any time. We can suspend or close an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, or if we are legally required to; except in urgent cases we will give you notice and a chance to fix it. If we close your account without cause we will refund the unused part of your period.

We will post the updated version here with a new “last updated” date, and email account holders before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and the courts of Queensland have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
