FAQs

What Blackhat is, where the data comes from, and what you get on each plan.

  • What is Blackhat?

A searchable database of viral Instagram Reels. Every video carries its public metrics and links back to the original; where we have processed it you also get the verbatim hook, the transcript, and an outlier score against that creator's own median. So you can look up what actually worked in a niche instead of guessing. Browse it like a feed or query it like an API.

  • Where does the data come from?

Publicly visible Instagram Reels and their public metrics, collected through managed scraper providers. Signed-in app searches can queue a background crawl when coverage is thin; the anonymous landing-page demo reads only what is already indexed.

  • Is this legal?

Yes. We index publicly available videos and their public metrics. We store metadata and transcripts rather than re-hosting anyone’s video, we link every result back to the original, and we honour takedown requests.

  • How often does the library update?

Continuously. Seed crawls run against a standing list of niches, and any search with thin coverage triggers a fresh crawl for that term in the background. Results you already have on screen never block on it.

  • What exactly is an outlier score?

A video’s views measured against that creator’s own median — not against a global average. A 47× means the video did forty-seven times what that account normally does, which is what tells you the hook worked rather than that the account is large.

  • Can I export what I find?

Yes, on Operator and above: CSV export of any search or collection. The Free plan is for browsing — 12 results a search, 15 searches a day.

  • Do you have an API?

Yes — a REST API and an MCP server, so the whole database is a tool your agent can call. Both are on Agency, at 600 reads an hour per key.

  • Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel from your billing settings and the plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, then drops to Free. Nothing you saved is deleted. No card is needed to use Free at all.
